postpone、cancel、suspend
1. suspend：动词 “暂停；暂缓（指暂时停止，可恢复）”（如 suspend classes 停课；suspend a project 暂停项目；suspend sb from school 勒令某人停学）；
2. 与 postpone（动词 “推迟（将时间延后，仍会进行）”，如 postpone the meeting 推迟会议）区别：suspend 是 “暂时停止”，postpone 是 “时间上延后”（suspend the game due to rain 因雨暂停比赛，postpone the game to next week 把比赛推迟到下周）；
3. 与 cancel（动词 “取消（彻底终止，不再进行）”，如 cancel the trip 取消旅行）区别：suspend 可恢复，cancel 不可恢复；

suspend，dangle，hang，sling
这组词都有“悬挂”的意思。它们的区别是hang指一端固定在一点或一条线上，另一端悬在空中的状态，也指依附在一点上；dangle指晃来晃去地吊着某物；sling指用吊索轻松地吊起笨重的物体或指吊在肩上；suspend指悬浮在空中可以灵活运动。例如Hang the picture on the wall.把画挂在墙上。He sat on the edge of the table dangling his legs.他坐在桌子沿上，悬荡着双腿。He stood up and slung his gun over his shoulder.他站起来把枪往肩上一背。They could see the dust suspended in the beam of light.他们能看见悬浮在那道光中的灰尘。delay，postpone，defer，suspend，prolong，put off这些动词或短语均有“推延，延期”之意。delay普通用词，多指因外界原因推迟或耽误，也可指有意推迟。postpone正式用词，语气较强，多指有安排的延期，常指明延期到一定的时间。defer正式用词，语气强于postpone，多指故意拖延。suspend指暂时中断以待某种条件的实现。prolong指把时间延长至超过正常或通常的限度。put off口语用词，与postpone同义，但较通俗。
