黄立称,到目前为止,国外的脑机接口芯片都还只能做到3000多个通道,而且是单向的。
近日,特斯拉CEO马斯克的脑机接口公司Neuralink宣布完成首例患者植入,患者通过植入的脑机接口设备可意念控制鼠标。

在马斯克发布最新脑机接口临床进展后,包括清华大学洪波教授团队在内的多个国内团队都宣布了技术突破,紧密对标Neuralink。不过在脑机接口芯片等核心技术方面,我国大部分企业仍然依赖进口。
去年10月,脑机交互与人机共融海河实验室、中国电子信息产业集团宣布新一代8通道脑电采集国产芯片研发成功。
根据衷华脑机接口公司的网站,该公司研制的MEMS电极键合CMOS电路一体化系列微针的最大通道数为65536。微针主要由微电极、CMOS电路和微带线(柔性信号连接线)组成。单个微电极具有64个电极触点(即64通道),根据微电极组装方式的不同,有多种阵列型微针规格。其中最大阵列为32 x 32,占据脑区面积为59m㎡。
人脑拥有800多个亿脑细胞,脑信号的数量非常巨大,脑机接口的通道数量越大,理论上可以处理的信息量也越大。
黄立在此前的采访中曾表示,马斯克的脑机接口需要把传感器一个个地植入脑组织,手术耗时长,但是衷华脑机的65000个通道是一次植入,做好了以后一分钟之内就可以下载通信。
然而,6.5万级通道的脑机接口在实际临床上的应用前景仍然有待观察,例如可以处理哪一类信号,能解决临床上哪些问题。第一财经记者查询公开资料,目前尚无关于衷华脑机接口公司脑机接口设备在临床方面的数据。

公开信息显示,去年11月,该公司与首都医科大学附属北京天坛医院签署了一项战略合作协议。根据协议,双方将以脑机接口应用于医疗为导向,在药物难治性癫痫、截瘫、偏瘫、植物人促醒、顽固性面瘫、失明、失聪等顽疾的诊疗上,以及术中监测设备、经颅骨给药装置等新型医疗器械研发等方向上开展合作。
一位业内人士对第一财经记者表示:“脑机接口技术首先是生物相容性要好,电机要非常柔性,创伤小,而且还要很灵敏,看看能够捕捉到哪些信号,有无对应的临床应用的价值,这需要经过长期的验证,最初要从动物试验开始。”
马斯克Neuralink的“单向通道”脑机接口只能读取脑电信号,而衷华脑机接口公司的“双向通道”还具有刺激大脑的功能。
对此,上述业内人士表示,脑机接口最关键的是要把数据读出来。“先要把信息读出来,这将会耗费很多年的时间,现在全行业都不知道能够读到什么数据,这些数据有什么意义,只有先读出数据,才能做下一步的事情,看看这些数据能够处理哪些信息。”他说道。
另一位业内人士对第一财经记者表示:“双向通道并不是技术瓶颈。”他认为,衷华脑机接口公司的脑机接口通道数主要是通过阵列的排布来增加,相比之下,如果能在每一根微针上多一点电极,可能会是一个更好的策略,因为可以减少损伤。
脑虎科技CEO彭雷近期对第一财经记者表示,未来脑机接口芯片的演进趋势一定是通道数越来越高,单通道功耗越来越低,前端信号处理的压缩能力越来越强;另外植入式产品的芯片需要满足医疗器械的法律法规,包括温升、功耗等要求。
中国科学院院士、中国科学院脑智卓越中心学术主任蒲慕明介绍,目前脑机接口的应用主要是在医学领域,全球科学家开展的脑机接口临床试验,多数是针对高位截瘫患者的功能恢复。他表示,未来脑机接口研发的目标是通过迭代开发打造一个通用的微创脑机接口平台,用于癫痫、认知障碍等更多脑疾病的康复。
