China News Network, Shanghai center, March 18 (Zhang Hengwei) according to the news on the WeChat official account of "Shanghai Network Refuses Rumor", there is a statement on the Internet recently that the life of the highest building in China is only 50 years. The reason is that Pudong is an alluvial plain with soft soil. At the same time, Shanghai center is pumping groundwater during construction, which has led to the subsidence of Lujiazui. Therefore, 50 years later, Shanghai center may face the risk of being demolished.
After verification by the Shanghai debunking platform, it was found that the relevant statements cannot withstand scrutiny at all.

It is reported that the Shanghai center Building was built in 2008. The reference is the Unified standard for Reliability Design of Building Structures (GB50068-2001), which stipulates that "the design service life of temporary structures is 5 years; the design service life of easily replaceable structural components is 25 years; the design service life of ordinary houses and structures is 50 years; and the design service life of commemorative buildings and particularly important building structures is 100 years." The design service life of the building structure should not be lower than this standard. After exceeding the designed service life, it does not mean that the house cannot continue to be used, but rather requires regular inspection and maintenance to ensure normal use.
The Shanghai center Building is a particularly important building structure, and its design service life is not less than 100 years according to regulations. Therefore, the statement that "in 50 years' time, the Shanghai center may face the risk of being demolished" itself does not hold water.
At the same time, some netizens are also concerned: Shanghai is an alluvial plain, and building super high-rise buildings on it can "stand" steadily?
In fact, as early as the beginning of the construction of Shanghai center Building, engineers had conducted in-depth research on this issue: during the geological exploration process at the beginning of the construction planning, engineers of Shanghai Geotechnical Engineering survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. drove a kilometer exploration rig into 288 meters of soil underground. Every time the drill bit reached a soil layer, soil samples were extracted to the ground, and the process was repeated continuously. The drill bit drilled all the way to the bedrock layer 288 meters underground. According to the geological exploration report, there is a 110 million year old granite layer 288 meters deep underground, which is called "the root of Shanghai center Building". At present, the samples of granite layer are displayed in the B1 sightseeing exhibition area of Shanghai center Building.
In addition, engineers conducted a series of tedious and systematic tests and ultimately found that the 9th soil layer located 80-86 meters underground is the most suitable bearing layer for the pile foundation in the core area of the building. The content of coarse gravel in the upper part of the soil layer is relatively high, and there is more cohesive soil in the middle and lower parts. Finally, the pile foundation of Shanghai center Building has a "home".
After determining the soil bearing layer, the next step is to select the pile foundation. The design bearing capacity of a conventional bored pile is generally around 600 tons, and the ultimate bearing capacity does not exceed 800 tons. However, the main building of Shanghai center has a limited coverage area, and only about 1000 foundation piles can be arranged at most. After calculation, the bearing capacity of each unit must reach at least 1000 tons. Therefore, the traditional bored piles cannot bear the 850000 ton Shanghai center Building.
To improve the bearing capacity of single piles, engineers have found an innovative solution - post grouting drilling and grouting pile technology. Engineers pre embed three grouting pipes at the bottom and both sides of the steel mesh box, and perform high-pressure grouting after pouring the conventional concrete pile. The slurry squeezes out the sediment at the bottom of the hole from the bottom of the pile, filling the cracks at the bottom of the pile and significantly improving the bearing capacity of the single pile.
In order to verify its effectiveness, engineers spent four months conducting on-site pile type selection tests from February to May 2008. Data shows that after using post grouting technology, the ultimate bearing capacity of a conventional drilled pile can be increased from 800 tons to 3100 tons, paving the way for supporting a building weight of nearly 850000 tons.
Finally, Shanghai center Building adopted this new pile foundation technology. The 9th soil layer is used as the bearing layer, and the ultimate bearing capacity of a single pile is 3100 tons, which ensures that the Shanghai center Building stands steadily beside the Huangpu River. At present, the Shanghai center Building is not only the highest super high-rise building in China, but also the highest building built on deep soft soil foundation in the world. (End)
