surf、surface、face
1. surface：名词 “表面；表层”/ 动词 “浮出水面；显露”，作名词时搭配 the surface of the earth（地球表面）、on the surface（表面上）；作动词时搭配 surface from the water（从水中浮出）、problems surface（问题显露）；
2. surf：动词 “冲浪”/ 名词 “冲浪运动”，搭配 surf the Internet（上网冲浪）、go surfing（去冲浪），仅因拼写（surface vs surf）相近易混，语义无关（学生常误记 “surface” 为 “冲浪”，实际 “冲浪” 是 “surf”）；
3. face：名词 “脸；表面”/ 动词 “面对”，作名词 “表面” 时与 surface 语义相近，但 face 更侧重 “物体的正面 / 端面”（如 “the face of the clock”（钟面）），surface 侧重 “整体表层”（如 “the surface of the table”（桌面））；
